Cougar Baseball Falls 8-2 to Biola

Box Score  CSUSM baseball had a case of the Mondays at home against Biola today, as the squad got down early and never got back in the game, losing 8-2.

The Cougars fall to 9-7 on the year.  Biola improves to 7-6.

A 4-run third inning followed by a 3-run fourth inning spurred Biola to a commanding lead.  Eagles' starter Nate Coronado allowed one run in five innings to pick up the win, while the Cougars tallied just five hits on the day.

CSUSM starter Adam Bileckyj, who has been very good this season, didn't have it on Monday and got little help from his defense, exiting after 3 2/3 innings.  The most positive sign of the day was the bullpen, which closed out the game by throwing 5 1/3 innings and allowing just one run.

At the plate, the Cougars' first run came in the second inning, as Trent Jemmett and Jeremy Baum launched back-to-back doubles.  The second run came in the seventh, with Kyle Secciani plating Baum on a fielder's choice.

The squad will look to right the ship tomorrow at San Diego Christian.
