The Cal State San Marcos Women's Basketball team outplayed #11 Azusa Pacific for the final 32 minutes of Wednesday night's game in the Biola Holiday Classic. Unfortunately, by that point, the Cougars were already down 19 to 0.

CSUSM was ice cold in the opening minutes, getting their first points on a Jessica Johnson jumper 8 minutes and 44 seconds into the game. After that however, the Cougars settled in, they played the type of basketball fans are more accustomed to, outscoring the opposing APU Cougars 59-57 from that point forward.

Trailing 37-18 at the half, CSUSM put up 41 second-half points to show the level that the Cougars are capable of playing at. Justine Chacon led the way offensively, scoring 23 points, including four 3-pointers. Danielle Cooper also had a solid game, scoring 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting in addition to hew 8 rebounds. Point Guard Sidney Dobner did a great job distributing the ball and opening up shots for others, notching 13 assists, breaking her previous school record of 9.

CSUSM falls to 8-10 on the season, and Azusa Pacific improves to 6-4. The Cougars play again tomorrow against #8 Hastings (Neb) at 1:00pm.
