CSUSM Softball Releases 2011 Schedule

#8 Cougars will face numerous tough tests

Entering the season ranked #8 in the NAIA, Coach Dave Williams' Cal State San Marcos softball team will face numerous tough tests on its way back to the NAIA National Championships in Alabama.

The reigning A.I.I. Conference Champion Cougars will begin their season with an 18-game, 6,500-mile road trip, highlighted by a double-header in Hawaii against reigning NCAA Division II national champion Hawaii Pacific, as well as a road double-header at #1-ranked California Baptist.  The Cougars will also have the unique opportunity to take on the USSSA Pride, a team made of former Olympians and Division I players, in an exhibition.

CSUSM will not open its home season until February, when they take on Mayville State on February 21st.  Despite the road-heavy first month, the Cougars will make it up to the home fans with a home-heavy second half of the year that includes the first-ever Cougar Clash tournament, hosted at CSUSM.  The Cougars will also host defending national champion and conference rival Simon Fraser for a double-header on April 2nd.

Fans in San Marcos will also have the chance to catch post-season softball action for the first time, as CSUSM will play host to the A.I.I. Conference Championship from May 5th through May 7th.
