SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 2 Cal State San Marcos softball team (36-3, 18-2 CCAA) extended its winning streak to 12 games and completed its fourth CCAA season series sweep of 2026 on Friday at CSUSM Softball Field, defeating Cal State Dominguez Hills (24-19, 6-14 CCAA) by scores of 4-1 and 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM wasted no time in the first inning, capitalizing on two early walks before Angelina Rodriguez launched a three‑run home run to left center to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead .
- The Cougars added to their advantage in the fourth. After singles by Rae D'Amato and Jordan Elias, an error at second base allowed Isabella Yescas to score from second, extending the lead to 4–0.
- Dominguez Hills pushed across its lone run in the fifth on an RBI single to left, but Madison Cabrera and Hailey Shiftlett combined to hold the Toros to four hits while stranding runners in scoring position in both the fifth and sixth innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dominguez Hills struck first in the third inning, scoring on a single to right after a bunt and wild pitch moved a runner to third.
- CSUSM answered in the fifth. Madilyn Novello singled down the left‑field line, moved to third on a bunt and an infield single, and scored on a sharp RBI single up the middle by Rae D'Amato to tie the game 1–1.
- Both teams traded scoreless frames through the eighth, with Daleah Cardenas retiring all six batters she faced in the sixth and seventh to keep the game level.
- In the bottom of the ninth, Czar Fleischman led off with a single up the middle and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a strikeout, Marissa Morales delivered the walk‑off single to left, scoring Fleischman and sealing the 2-1 extra‑inning victory for the Cougars.
