One hundred and twenty-six of the two hundred and seventy-six (45.6%) student-athletes at Cal State San Marcos have been named Scholar-Athletes for the fall 2010 semester, the department announced Thursday.
It's believed to be the highest percentage ever of scholar-athletes for CSUSM Athletics. To earn the distinction, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 GPA or higher for the fall semester. 65 student-athletes earned a “Cougar Award' with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49; 51 earned a “Big Blue Award” by earning between a 3.50 and 3.99; while 10 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA to win the “Mangrum Award.”
