Box Score A week after earning a hard-fought 11-8 win at Biola University, Cougar baseball faced stiff retaliation on Monday in a 15-2 loss.
CSUSM falls to 29-13-1 on the year. Biola improves to 22-16.
The Eagles got on the board early and never let up, scoring at least one run in each of the game's first seven innings and recording 22 hits in the process. All six Cougar pitchers allowed at least one earned run, with starter Ricky Chavarria taking the loss.
CSUSM got its runs in the eighth inning, with Ricardo Moran singling home Omar Manzanarez followed by Patrick Gray doubling home Moran. For the game, Manzanarez and Mike Pena had two base hits each.
The Cougars will look to re-group as they finish out the regular season and head towards the A.I.I. Conference Tournament in a road game at Chapman this Friday. The team's final regular season game will be at Poway High School against Azusa Pacific next Monday.
