Box Score Playing at Escondido High School for what may be the last time in program history, Cougar baseball completed a three-game season sweep of San Diego Christian on Tuesday with a 14-7 win.
CSUSM, ranked #3 among independent schools in this week's NAIA poll, improves to 26-11-1 this season. SDC falls to 6-26.
Kyle Secciani was the Cougars' star for the day, going 4-for-6 with a pair of home runs and a career-high 6 RBI. He played a key role in building a nice early lead for the Cougars with a first-inning double and a fourth-inning two run homer, and played a key role in securing the game late with another two-run shot in the eighth.
Also contributing on offense were Josh Miller, who had a home run and 2 RBI; Omar Manzanarez, who was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI; and Mike Pena, who had a pair of clutch base hits and an RBI.
On the mound, CSUSM got strong middle relief work from Auggie Richardson and Kyle Smart, who combined to throw 2 2/3 innings and allow one run. Shortstop Johnny Omahen made another appearance on the mound, closing out the contest with a scoreless ninth. Omahen also scored a pair of runs on offense.
CSUSM will be on the road this Friday and Saturday as they travel up north to face Bethany and Patten.
