Cougar Baseball Falls 15-3 to San Bernardino

Box Score

It was a tough day in San Bernardino for Cougar baseball, as the CSU San Bernardino offense took control of the game early and sent CSUSM to a 15-3 loss.

The Cougars are now 18-9-1 on the season.  CSUSB improves to 16-10.

Shortstop Johnny Omahen was the big bright spot at the plate for the Cougars, going 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI.  He drove in his first run in the second inning, knocking an RBI single to right after Ryle Parks doubled to lead off the frame.  His home run, a solo shot, came in the fifth.

CSUSM's third run came in the seventh, as Omar Manzanarez singled, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout, and was driven in by a Kyle Secciani base hit.

But the San Bernardino lineup would prove overwhelming, as the Coyotes scored 3 in the second, 2 in the third, 5 in the fifth, 2 in the sixth, and 3 in the eighth.  Starter Travis McCracken lasted 4 1/3 innings but gave up 6 runs, and three relievers allowed a combined 9 runs.

The teams will play at Poway High School tomorrow at noon.
