Box Score Freshman Max Blumenshine's first three goals as a Cougar helped men's soccer to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Claremont Mudd-Scripps on Tuesday.
The Cougar men are now 2-3 on the season. Claremont drops to 0-1.
CSUSM looked focused and motivated en route to picking up the road win, taking control of the game early and never letting go. Blumenshine struck first in the 15th minute off a throw-in from Troy Skomra. About 10 minutes later, Blumenshine would capitalize on a pass from Curtis Marcikic. And finally just out of halftime in the 46th minute, he was played through by Brandon Zuniga to complete the hat trick.
"We met our goal today in terms of work ethic," said Head Coach Ron Pulvers. "We have the quality in our players, we just need the consistency."
CSUSM will play its home opener this Saturday against Westmont College at 3:00 PM.
