Baseball Loses 6-3 to Biola

Box Score

Playing their second tough road game against a GSAC team in as many days, Cougar baseball fell 6-3 to Biola.

The Cougars are now 13-7 on the year.

CSUSM got into an early 3-0 deficit, but battled back to tie it in the middle innings.  With two outs and nobody in the fourth, Dane Ponciano drew a walk, and back-to-back singles by Scott Clement and Josh Miller loaded the bases.  That brought Austin Coleman to the plate, and the hot-hitting third baseman lined a single to left, plating two runs.  In the following inning, a sac fly by Ricardo Moran brought Steve Harris home, making it a 3-3 game.

But Biola took the lead right back in the bottom of the fifth, and plated two more in the sixth to make it a 6-3 game.  Two scoreless innings by Cougar reliever Morgan Wynne gave San Marcos a chance to get back in it, and CSUSM brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth - but Biola's bullpen was able to shut the door.

CSUSM will host Concordia in a night game at Escondido High this Friday, starting at 6:00 PM.
