Box Score 2 Scott Clement's 14 RBI's led Cal State San Marcos to a double-header sweep of La Sierra. CSUSM took game one 25-11, and went on to win game two 31-5.
The Cougars are now 25-13 on the season.
La Sierra held a 1-0 lead at the end of one inning, but from then on it was all Cougars. CSUSM scored 3 in the second, 3 in the third, 8 in the fourth, and 10 in the fifth to put the game far out of reach.
The squad's many highlights included Austin Coleman's 4-for-4 with 4 runs scored and 4 RBI, Ricardo Moran's 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, Dane Ponciano's 4 runs and 4 RBI, and Clement's 5 RBI. In total, eight Cougars had at least 2 hits, and seven had at least 2 RBI.
On the mound, McClinton Heil allowed two runs in four innings of work to pick up the win. Matt Jenkins worked a scoreless innings in relief, and Cheyne Gorski allowed just one hit in a pair of innings to close out the contest.
Game two would prove even more lopsided, as San Marcos scored at least four runs in the game's first five innings - including an 11-run third - to pick up the win.
Clement put up the best offensive stats of any Cougar, hitting a pair of bombs en route to a massive 5-for-5 with 4 runs scored and 9 RBI effort. James Scott also added 5 hits and 3 RBI, Moran had 3 hits and 4 runs scored, Dane Ponciano scored 5 runs and drove in 3, and Louie Russo drove in 4 runs.
On the mound, Morgan Wynne gave the Cougars a really solid effort, tossing his second complete game of the season. He pitched the full seven innings, allowing 4 earned on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4.
CSUSM will play a huge game on Tuesday, finishing the regular season at Azusa Pacific before heading off to British Columbia to make their first post-season appearance.
