Todd O'Malley was named assistant women's volleyball coach at Cal State San Marcos in July 2012 by head coach Andrea Leonard.
O'Malley, whose previous stops include stints at Palomar College and San Diego Christian College, possesses more than 15 years of elite coaching experience and 25 years of playing and competitive experience in indoor, grass and beach volleyball. He helps Leonard in all aspects of the program, including training, scouting, recruiting, and linear/vertical speed training and conditioning.
O'Malley is well-known in coaching circles across the region, having contributed greatly on the high school, junior college, collegiate, and club levels.
He came to San Marcos with an extensive knowledge of building a program from the ground up; O'Malley was owner and founder of the Premier Volleyball Club, and helped with the start-up of 801 VBC (Utah), Formula 1 VBC (Pasadena), Ichiban VBC (Long Beach), South Coast VBC (Costa Mesa), and West Coast VBC (Manhattan Beach).
O'Malley studied under the tutelage of PlyoCity founder Mike Rangle, who helped formulate techniques utilized by U.S. Olympian and AVP pro Mike Lambert, beach volleyball legend and two-time Olympic gold medalist Karch Kiraly, and two-time Olympic gold-medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh.
He is a native of San Clemente, Calif.
