Cal State San Marcos Athletics

Nate Turner enters his first season with the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball coaching staff in the 2016-17 season. 

Before coming to San Marcos, Turner was previously the head coach of the varsity basketball team at Christian Life Academy in Escondido from 2009-16. He led Christian Life Academy to three straight Breakaway League regular season titles (2014-16). 

Turner began coaching in 1998 at Escondido High School as the head coach of the boy's varsity volleyball team. He led the Cougars to two Valley League (1999, 2000) and the 2000 CIF San Diego Section Division II titles. He was named the 2000 San Diego County High School Boy's Volleyball Coach of the Year and the North County Times Boy's Volleyball Coach of the Year. 

Turner is a graduate and played basketball at Escondido High School. He was the Cougars' co-captain and co-MVP, and was named All-Avocado League during the 1995-96 season. He played basketball (1997-98) and volleyball (1997) at Palomar College.
