Cory Coombe joined the Cal State San Marcos Department of Athletics as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach on Aug. 1, 2025.
Coome came to CSUSM from the University of Redlands, where he was the Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach from 2020 to 2025. While at Redlands, Coombe helped the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Division III Elite Eight appearance in school and conference history in 2024-25 and the program's highest four-year win total in school history.
Before Redlands, Coombe spent the 2018-20 seasons at Whittman College in Walla Walla, Washington, as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. In his first year coaching at the collegiate level in 2018-19, Coombe helped coach the Blues to an NCAA Division III Sweet 16 appearance and helped the team return to the Round of 64 in 2019-20.
Before joining the collegiate ranks, Coombe was the Head Coach of the junior varsity boys' basketball squad at Lake Oswego High School while also assisting with the varsity team.
Coombe competed for the Lewis & Clark College (OR) men's basketball team for four years, twice earning a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Academic Honors Court and competing in the Northwest Conference Championship game in 2014-15.
He completed his degrees in Economics and Rhetoric & Media Studies in 2017 and completed his Master's in Sports Management from the University of Florida in 2021.
