Keegan Acker joined the Cal State San Marcos baseball team as a Volunteer Assistant Coach in the fall of 2019. Prior to Keegan’s job at CSUSM, Acker coached at Point Loma High School. As the hitting and infield coach, Acker helped lead the Pointers to finish as Eastern League Champions.
Before becoming the Pointers' hitting and infield coach, Acker was a Graduate Assistant Coach at the University of San Diego. During his two year tenure there, the Toreros finished first in many offensive categories in the West Coast Conference. Acker also had the privilege of acting as hitting assistant for Merv Rettenmund, an 18-year MLB hitting coach for the Atlanta Braves, Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres. Additionally, Acker acted as the Northwest Associate Baseball Scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers under the direction of the longest tenured Northwest Area Scout, Hank Jones.
Acker graduated from Gonzaga University, where he started as second baseman for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs' 2011 team ranked No. 24 in Baseball America's Top 25 and finished runner up in the West Coast Conference. Acker led the conference in base on balls.
Keegan resides in San Diego and has a master's degree in Coaching and Leadership from the University of Concordia in Irvine, California. Besides his love of the game, Keegan also loves his fiancé, Annie, and his parents and brother from Redmond, Washington.
