SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (5-2-1, 2-1-0 CCAA) piled up the goals as it earned a 4-0 win over (RV) Cal State Monterey Bay (4-2-2, 0-1-2 CCAA) on Friday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the closing seconds of the first half, a CSUSM free kick was kicked back to Jacob Arellano by a CSUMB defender, who put a shot into the left side of the goal from the edge of the 18-yard box to put the Cougars up 1-0 in the 45th minute.
- After a CSUSM pass in the box was deflected by a CSUMB defender, the ball fell to Matthew Ibarra, who took a shot from just left of the penalty marker and into the bottom right corner of the goal to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute.
- Just a couple of minutes later in the 58th minute, the Cougars took a corner kick from the left side, but the ball bounced off an Otter defender and fell at the feet of Cisco Avila on the left side of the box. Avila then took a shot across his body and put the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal to put CSUSM up 3-0.
- With Brady Le dribbling the ball down the right side and into the box, Le made a pass to his left to David Ruiz, who put a shot into the left side of the goal from three yards out to put the Cougars up 4-0 in the 80th minute.

- This was the second consecutive year in which CSUSM beat CSUMB by a score of 4-0.
- CSUSM led the game in shots (19-5), shots on goal (8-4), corner kicks (7-4) – all season highs.
- Avila's goal was his team-leading fifth of the season while Matthew Ibarra tallied his third.
- Arellano and Ruiz each tallied their second goal of the year.
- Le's assist was the first of his collegiate career.
