SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (33-17) saw its CCAA Tournament run come to an end as it fell 8-6 to Cal Poly Pomona (30-22) in an elimination game on Friday night at Fiscalini Field on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After two scoreless innings, CSUSM changed that in the top of the third on a solo shot to right center by Canon King and a two-run blast to left by Zech Samayoa to go up 3-0.
- Samayoa homered for the second time in the top of the fifth with a three-run shot to center, giving the Cougars a 6-0 lead.
- CPP broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fifth as it put up four runs on an RBI single by Julian Angulo, an RBI double by Sebastian Arguelles, a lodged ball that scored Angulo and an RBI single by Gage Gonzales to make it 6-4.
- The Broncos took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double by Angulo, a bases-loaded walk by Tyler Blade and a sacrifice fly by Bryan Richman.
- CPP added on with an RBI single by Jack Sanders in the bottom of the seventh to take an 8-6 lead.

- Bronco reliever Geo Hernandez (2-2) earned the win after striking out two while allowing just three hits and a walk in 3.0 innings.
- Cougar reliever Trevor Morgan (3-3) took the loss after allowing three earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out one in two-thirds of an inning.
- CPP reliever Gavin Smith earned his second save after striking out the side while allowing one hit.
- Samayoa's two home runs gave him 22 for the season – the fourth most in a single season in CCAA history. This was also his third two-homer game of the year.
- Samayoa's five RBIs put him at 76 for the year, tying him for the seventh most in a single season in conference history. He now has 22 multi-RBI games for the year.
- Christopher Tampoya improved his reached-base streak to a team-best 24 games.
