Top-Ranked Cougars Split Friday Twinbill at Chico, Maintain Best Start in NCAA DII Era

CHICO, Calif. – The No. 1 Cal State San Marcos softball team split Friday's CCAA doubleheader at Wildcat Field, dropping a 1–0 heartbreaker in the opener before erupting for a 12–2 run‑rule victory in game two. Despite seeing their 20‑game win streak snapped, the Cougars continued their best start of the NCAA Division II era.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Wildcats scored the lone run of the game in the third inning on a two‑out RBI double to right‑center. CSUSM created several scoring opportunities but could not convert, leaving runners in scoring position in both the third and fifth innings.
