TRACY, Calif. — The No. 1 Cal State San Marcos softball team (16-1) opened the 2026 NorCal Crossover with a pair of wins on Friday, earning a 6-0 shutout of Montana State Billings (2-13) before securing a 5-3 victory over Menlo (2-16) to extend its winning streak to 14 games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM struck early in the first inning as Marissa Morales walked, stole second, and scored on an RBI single from Olivia Rivera to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
- The lead doubled in the second when Hannah Tandy singled, stole second, and came home on an infield error to make it 2-0.
- The Cougars continued to pressure in the sixth, extending the advantage to 3-0 on an RBI single by Rae D'Amato.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM wasted no time, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Jillian Albayati lined an RBI single to score Marissa Morales.
- The Cougars added two more in the second after Angelina Rodriquez was hit by a pitch, followed by a walk and a wild pitch that set up RBI opportunities for Kaila Siu and Jordan Elias, pushing the lead to 3-0.
- CSUSM extended the advantage to 4-0 in the third when Rodriquez singled home Hannah Tandy.
- Menlo rallied for three runs in the fifth, highlighted by a two‑run triple from Aleatha Buchner, to trim the lead to 4-3.
