SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball (10-7, 7-5 CCAA) team collected a 76-71 overtime victory against San Francisco State (2-17, 1-11 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at the San Francisco Federal Credit Union Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening half featured constant back-and-forth action, with neither team able to establish separation.
- The Gators took the half's largest lead at 31-24 on a Fed Pernell 3-pointer with 2:40 to play.
- CSUSM ended the half on a 7-2 and cut SF State's halftime lead to 33-31 after
- The Cougars shot just 27.6% (8-of-29) from the field in the first 20 minutes compared to the Gators' 40.0% (12-of-30), but CSUSM made up for it at the charity stripe by going 12-of-14 (85.7%).
- Tied 46-all with 11:09 to play, SF State went on a 9-0 run to go up 55-46 with 9:15 remaining.
- The Cougars spent the rest of the half chipping away at the Gators' lead until a late Aaron Ragen basket and free throw in the final seconds of regulation tied the game at 64-64 and forced overtime.
- In overtime, Chris Carrillo drilled two clutch three-pointers and knocked down two free throws as CSUSM outscored San Francisco State 12-7 in the extra period to seal the victory.
