SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (12-12, 7-8 CCAA) began its series against Cal Poly Pomona (8-22, 5-16 CCAA) with a 3-1 win on Friday afternoon at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With one out in the bottom of the second, Victor Castaneda brought the first CSUSM run home on a sacrifice fly to left to make it 1-0.
- The Broncos tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth with their own sacrifice fly by Anthony Gibbons.
- CSUSM rallied in the bottom of the eighth to take a 3-1 lead after an RBI double down the left field line by Teunissen scored Tyler Weaver before an RBI single by Cameron Mahaffy scored pinch runner Marco Pirruccello.
- Nolan Long nailed down his third save of the year in the top of the ninth with a groundout to short, a foul out and a groundout back to the mound to give CSUSM the win.

- Cougar reliever Trevor Eby (2-1) earned the win after throwing just four pitches and allowing nothing in a third of an inning.
- Bronco starter Anthony Cosme (1-5) took the loss after giving up three earned runs on five hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in 7.1 innings.
- CSUSM starter Spencer Anderson took the no-decision after throwing two strikeouts while allowing a run on seven hits and a walk in 7.0 innings.
