CHICO, Calif.  – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (8-20, 8-14 CCAA) dropped an 80-62 decision to Chico State (22-6, 17-5 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at Acker Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars trailed 17-10 following the first quarter.
- Chico State took a 45-20 lead into the halftime break after shooting 40.0% (14-of-35) to CSUSM's 23.5% (8-of-34).
- Chico's Makenzi Laporte was 5-of-5 from the 3-point line in the first half and led all scorers with 19 points. Â
- The Wildcats took their largest lead of the game at the 6:00 mark in the third quarter on a Jordan Allred second-chance layup.
- CSUSM outscored the Wildcats 42-35 in the second half after shooting 48.5% (16-of-33) to Chico's 39.4% (13-of-33).

- The Cougars closed out the game shooting 35.8% (24-of-67) while the Wildcats came in at 39.7% (27-of-68).
