SAN MARCOS, Calif.  – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (4-16, 4-10 CCAA) led almost wire-to-wire in a 72-55 victory over San Francisco State (8-12, 6-9 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A Maddie Levia 3-pointer followed by a Rory Hetrick fastbreak layup gave CSUSM a 21-13 lead following the first quarter.
- The Cougars took a 38-31 lead into the halftime break after shooting 53.3% (16-of-30) to SF State's 44.4% (12-of-27).
- CSUSM went on a 10-0 run to close the second quarter and begin the third, capped by a 3-pointer by Camille Johnson at the 9-minute mark to make it 44-31.
- In the third quarter, CSUSM shot 57.1% (8-of-14) from the field while holding the Gators to 36.4% (4-of-11).
- The Cougars closed out the game with an 8-0 run.

- CSUSM finished the night shooting 49.2% (29-of-59) while SF State came in at 40.4% (21-of-52).
- The Cougars led the game in rebounds (37-26), assists (16-10), steals (15-11) and fewer turnovers (18-20).
- The Cougars registered 36 points in the paint to SF State's 22.
- Thirteen of CSUSM's points came off fast breaks while the Gators only finished with two.
- CSUSM got 24 points from its bench to SF State's six.
- The Cougars lead the all-time series at 13-3 and are 7-1 when playing in The Sports Center.
