CSUSM Falls to San Diego State in Final Exhibition

SAN DIEGO – In its second and final exhibition of the 2025-26 season, the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team fell 95-35 to San Diego State on Saturday afternoon at Viejas Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • San Diego State opened the game on a 6-0 run before CSUSM got on the board with free throws from Tatum Tamashiro at 8:41 in the first quarter.
  • The Cougars' best stretch came midway through the first when they cut the deficit to 6-4 after a pair of free throws by Sophie Morales.
  • SDSU closed the first quarter on a 16-4 run to lead 24-8 after 10 minutes.
  • CSUSM hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter, including one from Kristan Yumul at 8:24 and another from Tamashiro at 3:53, but trailed 53-22 at halftime.
  • The Aztecs shot 52.9% in the first half (18-of-34) while CSUSM finished at 29.2% (7-of-24).
  • SDSU extended its lead to 75-30 after three quarters and outscored CSUSM 20-5 in the fourth to close out the game.
