SEASIDE, Calif.  – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (2-14, 2-8 CCAA) won its second consecutive game with a 65-61 overtime victory at Cal State Monterey Bay (3-14, 0-11 CCAA) on Thursday night in the Otter Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams finished the first quarter with 14 points.
- A pair of made free throws by Hetrick with 59 seconds remaining in the second quarter gave CSUSM its largest lead of the first half to make it 34-26.
- The Cougars took a 34-30 lead into the halftime break.
- CSUSM led the entire third quarter, taking a 44-41 advantage into the fourth quarter.
- The Cougars saw its seven-point lead with 6:17 remaining in the fourth quarter dwindle away.
- Monterey Bay tied the game with a layup by Slocum with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.
- A made free throw by Okonkwo gave CSUSM back the lead at 57-56 41 seconds into overtime.
- A 3-pointer by Tamashiro in front of the Cougar bench put CSUSM up 62-58 at the 2:11 mark of overtime and sparked a 7-0 run.
- CSUSM went 3-of-5 (60.0%) in overtime while the Otters shot 28.6% (2-of-7).
FAST BREAKS
- CSUSM shot 36.8% (25-of-68) while the Otters registered 43.9% (25-of-57). Â
- The Cougars won the battle of the boards, 45-37, with 17 coming on the offensive side to CSUMB's eight.
- CSUSM tallied nine steals to the Otters' five.
- The Cougars registered their third-lowest turnover total of the season with 13 while forcing CSUMB to commit 18.
- CSUSM scored 18 points on second-chance shots to Monterey Bay's seven.
- The Cougars led the game for 31:08 while CSUMB was on top for only 9:26.
- CSUSM had 11 players play five minutes or more while Monterey Bay only had eight Otters take the court the entire 45 minutes.Â
- With the win, the Cougars extended their win streak to 13 against CSUMB and now lead the all-time series at 14-2.
