SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (2-1-1) earned its first home win of 2024 with a 3-0 shutout against Colorado State Pueblo (1-1-2) on Sunday at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars first struck in the 28th minute. After a CSUSM pass in the box ricocheted off some defenders, Kaci Embree took possession in the middle of the box and put a shot into the left side of the goal to put the Cougars up 1-0.
- CSUSM had a 9-2 shot lead after 45 minutes while taking five corner kicks.
- After a pass into the box from the left side by Isabelle Walsh, Kayla Knoob took a shot from the middle of the box and put the ball into the left side of the goal to give CSUSM a 2-0 lead in the 53rd minute.
- After Embree took a corner kick from the right side, she recovered the ball just outside the top right corner of the box. Embree then sailed a long shot over the keeper's head and into the left corner of the net for her second goal of the day, giving the Cougars a 3-0 lead in the 77th minute.

- This was the first-ever meeting between the Cougars and ThunderWolves.
- Knoob's goal was her team-leading third of the season while Embree's two goals were the firsts of her career.
- CSUSM heavily outshot CSU Pueblo (20-4) while also having a major edge in corner kicks (13-2).
- The Cougars' 20 shots were spread out among nine players with Knoob leading the game with four.
- CSUSM had possession for 57% of the game while 82% of those possessions occurred in CSU Pueblo territory.
