SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 7 Cal State San Marcos softball team (11-6, 5-5 CCAA) split Friday's doubleheader against San Francisco State (6-12, 3-7 CCAA), taking game one 6-2 before falling 5-4 in 10 innings in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM went up 1-0 in the bottom of the first after Waymire led off the game with a triple and scored on a wild pitch.
- In the third inning, the Cougars went up 5-0 on a Waymire home run, a Kestler RBI single and a two-run homer by Albayati.
- CSUSM extended its lead to 6-0 with a Delaney Prater RBI single in the fifth.Â
- The Gators prevented a shutout in the sixth inning as Mackenzie Stenson hit a 2-RBI single to center field.

- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (7-1) collected the win after tossing a complete game, allowing two runs on seven hits and fanning one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gators jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Mackenzie Stenson home run to right.
- SF State doubled its lead in the fourth on Kira Nilson's RBI single to left field.
- The Cougars went on top in the fourth at 3-2, scoring on a Gator error, a fielder's choice and an RBI single by Olivia Rivera.
- CSUSM made it 4-2 with Prater's RBI single to left field in the fifth inning.
- A Nilson 2-RBI double to right evened the game at 4-all in the sixth inning.
- The Gators went up 5-4 in the top of the 10th inning on a CSUSM error.
- Guiliano led off the bottom of the 10th with a triple to right but SF State's relief pitcher Elise Roy retired the next three Cougars to clinch the win.
