SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 9 Cal State San Marcos softball team (13-8) split a non-conference doubleheader to Biola (7-10) on Friday afternoon at the CSUSM Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got on the board in the top of the first, taking advantage on two CSUSM errors on one play to make it 1-0.
- A two-run homer by Donnelly to right center in the second inning gave CSUSM a 2-1 lead.
- The Cougars extended it to 3-1 on a solo home run by Fleischman in the third inning.
- In the fifth inning, Waymire sent a no-doubt line drive over the left center wall for a two-run homer to make it 5-1.
- The Cougars pushed two more runs across in the sixth on RBI singles by Arredondo and Alvarez to make it 7-1.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (8-1) tossed a complete game, allowing one unearned run on two hits and two walks while striking out six batters.
- Biola starter Raylene Roybal (4-4) took the loss after giving up five runs on four hits and walking none in five innings in the circle.
- Waymire recorded her team-leading fourth home run of the season while Donnelly and Fleischman tallied their first of 2024.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles once again took the lead first, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an Alexa Medley RBI single.
- CSUSM went up 2-1 in the fourth on a Savannah Coyle 2-RBI single to left center.
- With one out in the top of the seventh, Raylene Roybal hit a three-run homer to center to put Biola up 4-2. The Eagles would push six more runs across before the half inning was complete, taking advantage of four CSUSM errors and tallying seven hits.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starter Savannah Coyle (4-6) picked up the loss after 6.1 innings of work, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks.
- Biola reliever DJ Symons (2-1) collected the win after three shutout innings in the circle, giving up just two hits while fanning four batters.
