SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A walk-off sacrifice fly by the Cal State San Marcos baseball team (3-5, 2-1 CCAA) capped off a doubleheader sweep of Cal State LA (7-6, 1-2 CCAA) by scores of 9-1 and 5-4 on Saturday at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM scored its first run in the bottom of the first as a wild pitch allowed Sommay to score from third and put the Cougars up 1-0.
- The Cougars went up by five in the bottom of the third on a two-run single up the middle by Reece before Lake put a two-run bomb over the right center wall.
- The Golden Eagles cut the Cougars' lead to 5-1 in the top of the fourth as Cesar Chavez hit an RBI single up the middle to score Matthew Piotrowski.
- CSUSM put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth. An LA error at third allowed Luna and Niko Diaz to score. On a double steal, the catcher threw the ball into center field and allowed Sommary to score. A sacrifice fly to center by Reece scored Teunissen and made it a 9-1 ballgame.

- CSUSM starter Conner Gleissner (2-1) picked up the win after striking out six and allowing one unearned run on six hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in a season-high 7.0 innings.
- LA starter Dorsey Chatham (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits, three walks and three hit-by-pitches while striking out five in 6.0 innings.
- The Cougars scored all nine runs on just three hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third with a squeeze bunt by Diaz that scored Chesterton before Sommay launched a one-out, two-run blast over the left field wall.
- LA cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the fourth with an RBI single by Ethan Gonzalez and a sacrifice fly by Elijah Jackson that plated Malik Clayton.
- The Golden Eagles went up 4-3 in the top of the sixth as Jackson delivered a two-out, two-run double to left center.
- Reece came through with a game-tying, one-out homer to left in the bottom of the sixth to square the game at 4-all.
- After three quick outs in the top of the seventh, CSUSM got a single from Mauricio Guardado, a walk by Ku, a sacrifice bunt by Diaz and an intentional walk to Sommay to load the bases with one out. On a 2-1 pitch, Garrett Teunissen hit a fly ball to right that was deep enough to score Guardado and send the Cougars home with a walk-off win.
