SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (3-11, 1-6 CCAA) dropped a five-set match to Cal State Monterey Bay (3-11, 2-5 CCAA) on Friday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM went up 15-9 in the first set before the Otters rallied with ten unanswered points. The Cougars came back to even the set at 23-all and waived off two set points before Monterey Bay took the set at 26-24.
- Once again, the Cougars took a big lead at 18-12 yet was able to hold on to take a 25-23 second-set win to even the match at 1-1.
- Behind a .412 attack percentage, CSUSM dominated the third set that resulted in a 25-16 win to go up 2-1 in the match.
- The Otters went up 7-0 in the fourth set, forcing the Cougars to play catch-up the entire set. Despite McCasland recording five aces in the set, CSUSM fell 25-18 which forced a fifth set.
- The Cougars came out hot in the fifth set by taking a 10-5 lead that was capped by a Bakken kill. CSUMB responded with a 10-3 run to clinch the match with a 15-13 win.

- Despite the loss, CSUSM remains on top in the all-time series against the Otters at 6-5.
