TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (8-3, 5-1 CCAA) collected a 70-60 victory over CCAA leader Stanislaus State (10-6, 5-1 CCAA) on Thursday night at Fitzpatrick Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars jumped out to a quick 17-10 lead in the opening quarter after shooting 35.7% (5-of-14) while holding the Warriors to 18.8% (3-of-16).
- CSUSM sunk three 3-pointers in the first quarter, two from Mastora and one from Gallegos.
- The Cougars held a 29-16 lead at the break.
- CSUSM shot 33.3% (9-of-27) from the field and 50.0% (5-of-10) from behind the arch.
- Mastora tallied 11 of her 16 points in the first 20 minutes, making 3-of-4 from the 3-point line.
- CSUSM took a 50-34 lead into the final 10 minutes of play.
- The Cougars took their largest lead of the game on an old-fashion 3-point play by Vasquez that made it 61-41 with 5:27 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- A 3-pointer by Liliana Marques cut CSUSM's lead to single digits with 42 seconds remaining at 65-57.
- CSUSM concluded the game with a double-digit lead after Gallegos made three of her four final free throws in the last 20 seconds.
FAST BREAK
- CSUSM shot 34.5% (19-of-55) from the field while the Warriors turned in a 35.6% (18-of-57) field-goal percentage.
- The deciding percentage came from behind the 3-point line where the Cougars went 8-of-20 (40.0%) to Stan State's 3-of-21 (14.3%).Â
- For the second time this season Gallegos played the entire 40 minutes.
- Vasquez collected her sixth double-double of the season (12 pts, 11 reb.) and the 32nd of her collegiate career.
- Mastora's 16 points and four 3-pointers were both career highs.
- The Warriors won the battle of the boards, 44-40, with 17 coming on the offensive side.
- CSUSM converted 21 points off Stan State's 18 turnovers.
- The Cougars led for 94.4% of the game while the Warriors were only up for 3.1%.
- The Cougars extended their win streak over the Warriors to five games and now lead the series at 7-6.
- With the win, CSUSM is tied with Stanislaus State in the CCAA standings with a 5-1 conference record.
