SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The RV Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (13-3, 10-1 CCAA) extended its win streak to seven games with a 78-65 win over Cal State East Bay (7-11, 5-6 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars held a 13-12 lead following the first quarter with Vasquez leading all scorers with eight points.
- CSUSM held a 38-29 lead at the halftime break over the Pioneers.
- The Cougars sunk eight 3-pointers in the second quarter to outscore CSUEB 25-17.
- With her 10th rebound at the 2:41 mark of the third quarter, Vasquez completed another double-double with her 22 points at the time.
- East Bay cut CSUSM's lead to 61-57 with a pair of made free throws with 5:46 remaining in the game.
- CSUSM slowly extended its lead with Gallegos scoring nine of her 21 points in the final five minutes of play.
- The Cougars ended the game with their biggest lead of the day after Mastora made both of her free throws with 10 seconds remaining.
FAST BREAK
- CSUSM shot a 41.7% (25-of-60) from the field while the Pioneers turned in a 43.4% (23-of-53) field-goal percentage.
- From the charity stripe, the Cougars had their highest free throw performance of the season at 91.3% after making 21-of-23 with Vasquez going 8-of-8.
- Vasquez collected her tenth double-double of the season (28 pts, 17 reb.) and the 36th of her collegiate career.
- Vasquez broke her CSUSM game-high points record by one point that she set against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Jan. 21, 2023.
- Charity Gallegos notched her sixth game of scoring 20 or more points in a game this season.
- East Bay committed 27 fouls while CSUSM finished with 14 in the contest.
- The Cougars won the battle of the boards at 42-27 with 22 coming on the offensive side.
- Thirty-four of CSUSM's points came inside the paint to CSUEB's 28.
- The Cougars converted 21 points off East Bay's 14 turnovers while the Pioneers only tallied 11 from CSUSM's 14 turnovers.
- East Bay got 29 points from its bench.
- CCAA-leading scorer Payton Sterk tallied only four points in the first half to finish with 16 points on the night.
- CSUSM now leads the all-time series at 9-8 and is 4-4 when playing in San Marcos.
- The Cougars have won the last three meetings against the Pioneers.
- CSUSM wrapped up the first half of the CCAA season with a 10-1 record, holding a three-game lead over second-place Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State who tied with a 7-4 conference record.
