CSUSM Set to Begin CCAA Play at Stanislaus, Chico

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (3-2-1) will begin CCAA play this weekend as it travels to Stanislaus State (3-3-1) for a 7 p.m. game on Friday before concluding the weekend at Chico State (5-2-0) on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
 
LAST WEEK
  • CSUSM went 0-1-1 last week with a 2-1 loss against Biola on Wednesday before concluding non-conference play with a scoreless draw against Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
  • Diana Mendoza had CSUSM's goal against Biola as she scored it on a penalty kick in the 90th minute for her first of the season and the third of her career.
 
COUGARS BY THE NUMBERS
  • CSUSM has the 21st-best shutout percentage in the nation at .667 and ranks second in the CCAA.
  • The Cougars are taking a conference-leading 6.33 corner kicks per game and rank 29th nationally.

BEGINNING CCAA PLAY AT STANISLAUS

  • CSUSM will play its first road game of the season at Stanislaus State on Friday.

WEEKEND FINALE AT CHICO
  • Chico ended non-conference play on a two-game winning streak as it earned a 3-2 victory at Biola on Sept. 16 before its 2-1 win at Stanislaus State last Saturday.
  • The Wildcats are 2-0 at home this season with a pair of wins over Central Washington and Seattle Pacific.

  • Head coach Bobby Renneisen enters his ninth year in charge of the women's program and 17th overall at CSUSM.
  • Renneisen's 2018 team made its second consecutive CCAA Tournament appearance while also handing No. 1 UC San Diego its lone regular-season loss.
  • Between 2006-13, Renneisen was an assistant/associate head coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams.
  • As the women's head coach, Renneisen is 56-51-35 (.517) for his career with the Cougars.
