SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (4-8, 2-2 CCAA) fell in three sets to No. 23 Cal State LA (5-6, 3-1 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon in The Sports Center by scores of 18-25, 19-25 and 18-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams battled in the opening set until the 8-all point where CSULA pulled away with a 6-1 run capped by an Ashley Dittmann ace. The Golden Eagles cruised to a 25-18 first-set win.
- The Golden Eagles took a quick 8-2 lead, but the Cougars clawed back to cut their lead to 20-18 on back-to-back aces by Barr. CSULA eventually took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-19 second-set victory.
- The Cougars came out strong in the third set, taking an 11-7 lead on a Barr kill. Six unanswered points put CSULA on top, but CSUSM kept the set close until the 18-16 point where the Golden Eagles put together another run at 7-2 to claim the match at 25-18.
QUICK HITS
- Bakken's .625 clip with 10 kills on 16 attempts and no errors were a season best.
- Christensen's 16 digs were a season high in a three-set match.
