SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (3-3-1) finished non-conference play with a 1-0 loss against fellow CCAA opponent Cal State East Bay (5-1-1) on Saturday at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless after 45 minutes, CSUSM was winning in the shots category at 6-4 while Curtis Collazos had a half-high two shots.
- In the 59th minute of play, Aaron Farnan headed a throw-in by Michael Rossi into the net from the left side to break up the tie and give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.

- CSUSM outshot CSUEB by a 16-11 margin while both teams put four shots on goal.
- The Cougars had a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks.
- Vincent Saldivar tied for the match high with three shots while leading CSUSM.
- The Cougars owned possession for 54% of the match.
- This was CSUSM's first loss to East Bay since 2017 in Hayward and the first loss to the Pioneers in San Marcos since the inaugural meeting in 2015.
- Of the eight games in the all-time series, five ended with a 1-0 score.
