SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (4-7, 2-1 CCAA) dropped a heartbreaker to Cal State Dominguez Hills (8-1, 3-0) on Friday night in The Sports Center by scores of 28-26, 25-21, 21-25, 17-25 and 15-17.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toros got five unanswered points to take a 15-11 lead, but the Cougars came charging back to even the set at 16-all on a block by Gurrola and Barr. CSUSM waved off two Toro set points with a pair of kills by Jennings before the Cougars clinched the set with a Jessica Thomas cross court kill to take it 28-26.
- Both teams traded leads until the 7-7 mark of the second set when CSUSM went on a 7-1 run to make it 14-8. It was the Toros turn to rally back to even the set at 15-all before a Hedqvist kill down the line. CSUSM pulled away at 20-20 on Barr kill and cruised to a 25-21 victory to go up 2-0 in the match.
- The Cougars trailed the majority of the third set, closing the gap to 21-23 before falling to the Toros 21-25.
- CSUDH dominated the fourth set behind a .414 clip, taking a 20-14 lead before forcing a fifth set with a 25-17 win.
- The Cougars jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth set before the Toros came back to take a 10-7 lead. The Cougars went up 13-12 on an ace by Mia Christensen. After two CSUSM match points, the Toros capitalized on their first with a kill by Jesi Diekmann to take the set at 17-15.
