SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (0-4) fell in both of its matches on Saturday in the PLNU/CSUSM Seaside Invitational. The Cougars saw a late charge fall short in their match against Seattle Pacific (2-2) by scores of 19-25, 17-25 and 26-28 before being swept by Point Loma (2-1) in the tournament finale 10-25, 22-25 and 13-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars evened the opening set at 12-all on a Trinity Barr kill, but the Falcons responded with a 9-1 run to make it 21-13. SPU finished the first set with a 25-19 win.
- For the second consecutive set, the Cougars took a quick 2-0 lead following a Barr kill and a block by Alyssa Gurrola and Hedqvist. A 6-0 run made it 16-8 SPU and CSUSM never recovered, falling 25-17.
- Down 20-15, the Cougars rallied back to even the third set 22-all on back-to-back aces by Goff and took the lead at 23-22 on a SPU attacking error. CSUSM waved off three match points before the Falcons clinched the set and match with a 28-26 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Sea Lions pulled away in the opening set with a 14-3 run for a 25-10 win.
- The Cougars rallied back in the second set, evening the score at 21-all on a Barr kill. PLNU eventually took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-22 win.
- CSUSM went up 2-0 in the third set on a Goff ace before the Sea Lions charged back to stayed on top the rest of the set to record a 25-13 win to complete the sweep.
