SAN MARCOS, Calif.  –The No. 19 Cal State San Marcos softball team (18-11) dropped its doubleheader against No. 9 Concordia University Irvine on Friday afternoon by scores of 3-2 and 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a CUI error.
- The Golden Eagles answered with a run in the top of the second when Kaia Nisby hit an RBI single to right field.
- CUI took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third as Jocelyn Pino's RBI single up the middle.
- The Golden Eagles added to their lead in the next frame on a Megan Massa RBI single up the middle.
- Back-to-back doubles by Donnelly and Waymire cut CUI's lead to 3-2 in the fifth.Â
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starter Savannah Coyle (9-3) picked up the loss after going 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.
- CUI starter Daniela Alvarez (6-1) collected the win after striking out four batters and allowing one run on five hits over 4.0 innings.
- Callie Nunes (2) recorded the save after pitching 3.0 innings with six strikeouts and allowing one run on two hits. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CUI went up 4-0 in the third after scoring on a fielder's choice followed by an RBI double by Missy Nemeth and 2-RBI double by Sydney Sprinkle.
- The Golden Eagles tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh on a Megan Massa RBI triple and Nemeth RBI single to take a 6-0 win.

- Katlin Entrup (10-2) recorded nine strikeouts after tossing a complete game shutout with four hits and three walks. Â
