SAN MARCOS, Calif – The No. 5 Cal State San Marcos softball team (14-7, 10-4 CCAA) dropped both ends of its doubleheader by scores of 3-1 and 5-0 to No. 17 Cal State Dominguez Hills (15-6, 7-3 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at CSUSM Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Waymire led off with a double and advanced on a wild pitch, Gutierrez brought her home on an RBI single past a diving third baseman to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the first.
- The Toros took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third on a two-run homer by Alani Nguyen down the right line.
- Nguygen went yard again in the top of the sixth with a solo blast over the right field wall to put CSUDH up 3-1.
QUICK HITS
- CSUDH starter Alyssa Olague got a no-decision, going just 2.0 innings and allowing one run on four hits.
- Ashley Wies (3-2) collected the win following 5.0 shutout innings and two strikeouts.
- CSUSM starter Savannah Coyle (7-2) took the loss after tossing a complete game, allowing just three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one.
- Donnelly saw her team-high reached-base streak end at 14 games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toros took advantage of a CSUSM error, plating two runs to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the third.
- Kaylee Hull hit a three-run homer to put CSUDH up 5-0 in the fifth inning.

- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (5-3) picked up the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits and five walks while notching four strikeouts.

- This was CSUSM's first time to be shutout this season. The last time the Cougars were unable to score a run was in the opening game of the 2022 NCAA West Regional against Northwest Nazarene on May 12.
