CARSON, Calif. – The No. 14/RV Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (19-4, 16-3 CCAA) fell 68-58 to No. 9/5 Cal State Dominguez Hills (24-1, 18-1 CCAA) on Thursday night at the Torodome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM was held scoreless in the first six and half minutes before Dynnah Buckner sunk a 3-pointer in front of the CSUDH bench to make it 6-3 Toros.
- The first five buckets by the Cougars were 3-pointers.
- The Cougars trailed 21-12 at the end of the first quarter after going 4-of-14 (28.6%) from the field while the Toros went 9-of-13 (69.2%).
- The Toros closed out the second quarter on a 9-0 run to take their biggest lead of the game 32-16 into the break.
- CSUSM made five 3-pointers and one free throw in the first half.
- The Cougars opened the third quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers by Gallegos and Forrester to make it 32-22.
- CSUSM's first 2-pointer of the game didn't come until the 6:02 mark of the third quarter on Kate Carlson's second-chance layup that made it 37-24 CSUDH.
- A pair of made free throws by Kate Carlson closed the gap to seven points (39-32) with 4:04 on the clock in the third quarter.
- CSUSM outscored the Toros 23-15 in the third quarter to make it 47-39 CSUDH.
- The Cougars tallied a 53.3% (8-of-15) while holding the Toros to just 23.1% (3-of-13).
- After the Toros began the final quarter on a 5-0 run, the Cougars were not able to cut their deficit to single digits for the remaining of the game.

- The Cougars shot their second-lowest field-goal percentage of the season at 31.6% (18-of-57).
- CSUSM tallied a season-best 16 offensive rebounds but lost the battle of the boards, 34-31.
- The Cougars turned over the ball 20 times to CSUDH's 18 turnovers.
- CSUSM matched its season high of 12 steals set against San Francisco State on Dec. 8.
- The Toros got 34 of their points inside the paint while the Cougars got just 14.
