SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (7-5-3, 4-2-2 CCAA) earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Cal Poly Humboldt (4-6-4, 1-4-3 CCAA) to cap its home schedule of the regular season on Sunday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Meinardus intercepted a Humboldt pass on the right side in Cougar territory, he made a pass to the top of the box to Alvarez, who put a shot into the left side of the goal to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute.
- CSUSM ended the first half with an 8-2 shot advantage while up the only four shots on goal in the period. CSUSM also took the half's five corner kicks.
- Off a corner kick from the left side by Ibarra in the 65th minute, Meinardus headed the ball into the center of the goal to put the Cougars up by two.

- Earning three more points, the Cougars are in fourth place in the CCAA standings with 14 points. They're two points behind third-place Cal State Monterey Bay and one point ahead of Chico State and Sonoma State in fifth.
- With his team-leading sixth goal of the year while tying for the team lead in assists with three, Meinardus' 15 points for the season are the most ever for the program in the NCAA Division II era (2015-present) and rank seventh in team history.
- Alvarez's goal was his third of the season while Ibarra's assist was his second.
- The Cougars outshot the Lumberjacks, 18-6 – a season-high for San Marcos. CSUSM also put nine shots on goal to Humboldt's one.
- CSUSM had all nine corner kicks for the game to set a season high.
- The Cougars controlled the ball for 56% of the game with 66% of its possessions occurring in Lumberjack territory.
- CSUSM is now 5-2-1 in the all-time series against Humboldt and have won three of the last four games in the series.
