SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 18/20 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (13-2, 10-1 CCAA) shot 52.3% (8-of-15) from the field in the fourth quarter to clinch a 72-62 victory over Cal State East Bay (8-7, 5-6 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars held a 13-12 lead after the first quarter with Dynnah Buckner leading the way with seven points.
- CSUSM took a 33-31 lead into the break after going 4-of-5 from the 3-point line in the second quarter.
- The Cougars scored seven unanswered points to begin the third quarter to take a 39-31 lead into the first media timeout at 6:54.
- Dynnah Buckner took the ball the length of court and slipped it under the basket to Kate Carlson for a buzzer-beating layup to give CSUSM a 50-49 lead entering the final quarter.
- A Tameilau layup off an inbound pass by Forrester put CSUSM up 56-51 with 7:04 on the clock. The Pioneers responded with a 3-pointer by Grace Campbell less than 10 seconds later.
- CSUSM went on an 8-2 run capped by a Gallegos 3-pointer to take a 69-60 lead into the final minute.
- Dynnah Buckner got a second-chance layup to put CSUSM up 71-60 with 30 seconds remaining.
- The Cougars ended the game with a double-digit lead at 72-62 to collect their 10th CCAA win of the season.

- The Cougars finished the night shooting 49.1% (27-of-55) while holding the Pioneers to just 39.3% (24-of-61).
- CSUSM shot a season-best 57.1% (8-of-14) from beyond the arc.
