ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (1-7, 0-1 CCAA) dropped three-straight sets (17-25, 12-25, 18-25) to open CCAA play at Sonoma State (8-1, 1-0 CCAA) on Thursday evening in Rohnert Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars opened the game with a Turner kill for which ended up being their only lead of the set. The Seawolves gradually built up their lead, but a 5-2 run by the Cougars made it a 23-17 game. SSU clinched the set with a kill and solo block by Emily Hernandez at 25-17.
- A 13-3 run to close out the second set gave SSU a 25-12 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The third set was a different story the teams traded the lead four times and had seven tie scores. A Turner kill put CSUSM up 13-12 before the Seawolves scored four unanswered points. The Cougars cut the Seawolf lead to two with a kill by Wentzel to make it 19-17, but SSU closed out the set and match with a 6-1 run.
