SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (2-2-1) took a 3-1 loss to Concordia University Irvine (1-2-0) following three unanswered goals in the second half at The Cage on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless heading into the 40th minute, a throw-in by Westwood from the right sideline went off the head of Monroe in the right side of the box before being headed into the left side of the goal from the middle of the box by Acosta.
- CUI evened the game at 1-1 in the 74th minute. After a Golden Eagle throw-in from the left sideline went off a Cougar defender, Lux lined a shot from just outside the top of the box through traffic and found the left side of the net.
- In the 82nd minute, a CUI free kick from the far-left side went off the CSUSM keeper before Montano took a shot off the rebound from the center of the box into the left side of the goal to put the Golden Eagles up 2-1.
- With less than 15 seconds remaining in the game, a pass from the center of the field by Perez found Morales at the top left side of the box. Morales proceeded to take a low shot that went by the Cougar keeper into the right corner of the goal to go up 3-1.

- CUI outshot CSUSM 18-6 for the game with an 8-3 lead for shots on goal. The Golden Eagles had a 5-2 advantage in the first half before putting up a 13-4 shot total in the final 45 minutes.
- Acosta's goal was the first of his collegiate career.
- Monroe and Westwood each tallied their team-leading second assists of the season.
- This was CUI's third consecutive win against CSUSM and now has a 6-4 lead in the all-time series.
- Of CSUSM's possession total, 63% came in CUI territory.
