SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (2-3-1) suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Point Loma (1-3-0) on Saturday afternoon in The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nearing halftime, a CSUSM red card in the box in the 42nd minute allowed Point Loma to take a penalty kick. Lombana put his shot into the center of the net as the Cougar keeper dove to his left and gave the Sea Lions a 1-0 lead.
- After 45 minutes, the Cougars outshot the Sea Lions 7-2 with seven different CSUSM players taking a shot.
- A pass from Lombana just outside the top of the box found Lavell in the center of the box. Lavell proceeded to put a low shot in the left side of the goal and gave PLNU a 2-0 in the 84th minute.
- The Sea Lions outshot the short-handed Cougars 5-4 in the second half while CSUSM had the game's only two corner kicks.

- CSUSM outshot PLNU 11-7 for the game and had a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
- Malachi Wright and Jesus Angula each led the Cougars with two shots each.
- PLNU won the battle of possession by controlling the ball for 58% of the game.
- The Sea Lions had five offside calls compared to the Cougars' three.
- This was PLNU's three consecutive win over CSUSM, but the Cougars still own the all-time series lead at 7-4-1.
