SAN DIEGO – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (1-6) fell in four sets (15-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-25) to Concordia University Irvine in the Cougars' final match of Point Loma's Seaside Invitational in San Diego.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After CUI jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening set, the Cougars knotted it at 9-all on a Wentzel kill. The Golden Eagles responded with a 16-6 run to clinch a 25-15 victory to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- CSUSM put together an 8-2 run to take an 18-10 lead in the second set that began with a Kaylie Stewart kill. A CUI serving error gave CSUSM a 25-20 second set win to even the match at 1-1.
- Barr tallied six of her 15 kills in the second set.
- The third set featured seven tied scores and two lead changes. Four unanswered points gave CUI a 20-14 lead, but the Cougars rallied back to cut the gap to 21-18. The Golden Eagles registered three of their five blocks for the final three points to record a 25-18 third set win.
- CUI's Kirra Schulz tallied six of the Golden Eagles' 11 kills to win the match in four sets with a 25-15 final set victory.
