HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pioneers wasted no time getting on the board in the fourth minute. A pass over the middle by Morales from halfway between the box and midfield found Salmon at the top of the box. Salmon then put up a high, floating shot that went over the CSUSM keeper's head into the center of the goal and gave East Bay a 1-0 lead.
- East Bay ended the first half with a 5-3 advantage on shots.
- The Cougars came out firing in the second half and knotted the game at 1-1 in the 52nd minute. After a CSUSM free kick bounced around in the box, a quick pass from Paulson to Hernandez in front of the goal found the right corner of the net.
- Just two minutes later, a pass from just outside of the box on the right side from King made its way over to Moore in front of the box. Moore proceeded to take a long shot that sailed over the Pioneer keeper's head and into the center to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead.
- CSUSM put the game away with its third goal of the day in the 85th minute as a pass from King from just outside the top of the box found Frankina in the center of the box, who put a low roller past the East Bay keeper and found the left corner of the goal and gave the Cougars a 3-1 lead.
