SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (2-8, 1-2 CCAA) fell in three sets to Cal State LA (8-3, 3-0 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening set, the Cougars got off to a slow start but went toe-to-toe with the Golden Eagles before falling 25-16.
- The second set featured nine tie scores and three lead changes. A Turner kill broke an 11-all tie, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 5-1 run to take a 16-13 lead. The Cougars came back to tie it once more at 16-16 on a CSULA attacking error. The Golden Eagles scored five unanswered points to clinch the set at 25-19.
- Both teams came out strong in the third set but a 6-0 run capped by a Barr kill put CSUSM up 18-11. CSULA answered with a run of its own to take the lead away from the Cougars at 21-20 on a Brooke Paige ace. The Golden Eagles secured the sweep with a 25-22 third-set victory.
