SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (1-1-1) earned its first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (0-1) on Thursday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the scoreless first half, CSUSM tallied five shots to CMS's one.
• After a CSUSM corner kick into the middle of the box from the right side, Ramos gained possession after a brief scrum and sent the ball into the lower right corner of the goal to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the 86th minute.

 
QUICK KICKS

• CSUSM ended the game with an 11-2 shot advantage, holding CMS to just one shot in each half.
• This was Ramos' first career goal.
• Sierra Moore led the game with four shots while Natalia Huntington had the most shots on goal with two.
• The Athenas had six corner kicks compared to the Cougars' two.
• The battle of possession was an even 50-50 split while 68% of CSUSM's possessions occurred in CMS territory.
• This was the first-ever meeting between the Cougars and Athenas.
