SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team will play its final two non-conference home games this week as it plays NCAA Division III opponent Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday at 4 p.m. before taking on Hope International on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Saturday's game against Hope was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. but was moved to 5 p.m. due to the excessive heat in the forecast for this weekend.
LAST WEEK
- CSUSM began its season with a scoreless draw against Azusa Pacific at The Cage last Thursday.
- The Cougars then fell 2-1 at No. 22 Point Loma on Saturday.
- Freshman Diana Mendoza tallied her first goal as a Cougar, and it was the first goal by a CSUSM player against PLNU since 2014.

THURSDAY AGAINST CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS
- Thursday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Cougars and Athenas.

SATURDAY VS. HOPE
- CSUSM will face Hope for the first time since 2009 on Saturday.
- The Cougars are 2-0 in the all-time series against the Royals.
- CSUSM won both games against HIU by scores of 2-0.

- Keyla Fragoso has been HIU's top player so far, accounting for four of the team's nine goals.

2022 CSUSM WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES
- CSUSM will begin its 2022 season with a very young roster as it welcomes 13 incoming freshmen to its roster of 28.
- The Cougars return 12 from the 2021 squad, including top-goal scorers Chloe King, Sierra Moore and Hunter Morton and starting keeper Allison Marcure.
- Marcure ended the 2021 season with the 25th-best save percentage in Division II at .855 and ranked third in the CCAA.
- Graduate students Taylor Moorehead and Julia Atlee join CSUSM as transfers from San Diego State and Hartford, respectively.
- In 2021, the Cougars finished the season at .500 with an overall record of 6-6-3.
- CSUSM finished 10th in the CCAA standings with a 2-6-3 record.
- The Cougars were picked to finish 10th in the 2022 CCAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.
- Starting this season, the NCAA has eliminated overtime periods from men's and women's soccer regular-season games. All games tied after 90 minutes will end in a draw.
THE RENNEISEN FILE
- Head coach Bobby Renneisen enters his ninth year in charge of the women's program and 17th overall at CSUSM.
- Renneisen's 2018 team made its second consecutive CCAA Tournament appearance in 2018 while also handing No. 1 UC San Diego its lone regular-season loss.
- Between 2006-13, Renneisen was an assistant/associate head coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams.
- As the women's head coach, Renneisen is 47-45-29Â (.508) for his career with the Cougars.
